Jon B. Whittington was born on July 31, 1938, to Cedric and Marcia Whittington in Shreveport, Louisiana, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 5, 2024, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Jon graduated from Bossier High School and Northwestern State University. He married his one true love Myla on February 24, 1961, and spent 58 years together until she passed away in 2019. Together they had and raised three beautiful daughters.

Jon was a self-employed contractor. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker. He could build, make, or fix just about anything. He was a history buff who loved the old South and Confederate States of America. He did Civil War reenactments and loved representing a part of history and a time that he felt he truly belonged in.  He was a Life Member of the NRA and was a gunsmith who made pistols and rifles. He also made knives.

Jon loved his 1926 Ford Model T. At the age of 15, his father gave him a box full of Model T Parts. He spent years building and restoring this car and it became his pride and joy. After the passing of his wife Myla, he would drive it to the cemetery to visit her.

Jon collected and repaired antique clocks. He loved being outdoors and appreciated all nature and wildlife. The most important thing to Jon was his family. He loved them deeply and took great pride in them and all their accomplishments. He had a special place in his heart for children. He always thought they were the truest and most honest people. This made him the best Tataw there could ever be. He was an honorable man who lived a full life with the ones he loved and will be missed dearly by them all.

Jon B. Whittington was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Myla Whittington; granddaughter, Katy Watkins; and son-in-love, Marshall Bohn. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Susan W. Leidner; daughters, Melanie Barbe and husband, Ted, Robyn Watkins and husband, Steve, and Marci Whittington; grandchildren, Matt Blocker and wife, Abby, Sarah Blocker Weaver and husband, Matt, Emily Watkins Boyd and husband, Benjamin, Andrew Watkins and wife, Madelynn, eight great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat, Sweetie pie.
