Johnnie Ruth Crocker Miles

Johnnie Miles passed away on August 26,2022 in her home surrounded by family. Johnnie, the daughter of Thomas and Edna Crocker was born in Athens, La during the Great Depression. She always said "we were too poor, we couldn't tell". Her tough start on life made her tough and resilient, which are traits she carried till the day she passed away. She wore many hats throughout her life including being an army nurse, WWII veteran, dental assistant, and many more, but her favorite hat to wear was being a mother to her children, Betty and Glenn, that she shared with Odell Miles who gave her blessings of grandchildren and many great grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.  Her special interest included watching her family grow and flourish. Her faith was Assembly of God. She also enjoyed the many baby animal that were acquired through those years. Maw maw was always eager to hold puppies, kittens, geese, baby goats, and piglets.  Maw maws hot homemade cornbread with butter and pepper jelly will always be remembered as the best.

Maw maw was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Billy Crocker, George Crocker, Frank Crocker, June Crocker and Alec Crocker and sister Dora Helen Rhoads. Those left to cherish her memory are loving children, Glenn O. Miles and wife, Joyce of Vivian, LA and Betty Lou Comer and husband, Earl of Jefferson, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michelle Comer Young, Brandy Miles Mickler and Corey Miles; eight great grandchildren, Brianna Fitzgerald, Ethan Comer, Cypriss Young, Wade Young, Holly Young, Jack Young, Sebastian Mickler, Elliott Mickler and four great-great grandchildren and sisters, Mary Whatley and Betty Rea Lowrey.

Honoring Maw maw as pallbearers will be Marty Whatley, Grant Fitzgerald, Ethan Comer, Wade Young, Matt Simpson and Wayne Hill.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Johnnie Ruth Crocker Miles, age 97 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 705 S. Spruce Street, Vivian, LA. Officiating at the service will be Rev. John Parker and Dr. Mark Crook. Interment will be held at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens, Vivian, LA. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
