John Arthur Young

John A. Young, 95, died at 10:35 p.m. on November 26, 2025. Funeral services for John will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Scott Etheridge and Rev. Linnie Lindsay. Visitation will be held on December 3, 2025, at the funeral home with the family meeting friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery in Shreveport.

John was born April 7, 1930, at the family farm Southwest of Donnellson, Iowa, to Frank Harold and Ada Tressia Woolley Young. He graduated from Donnellson High in 1948 and from LSU Shreveport with a BS Degree in Accounting in 1977.

John worked at the Purity Oats Plant from 1952 until the plant was shut down in 1963. He then worked for Keokuk Steel Casting and Kast Metals Corp. for over 29 years. He later worked for National and then Enterprise Car Rental for 11 years retiring on his 11th anniversary. 

John was a member of The Healing Place at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in Shreveport. He served many years in the Christian Education Department. He believed that Jesus is literally the Son of God, that Jesus lived a sinless life, shed his blood, died on a cross, and was resurrected as the first fruits of the righteous dead.

His parents, Frank and Ada Young, and brother, Albion, preceded him in death. Also preceding John in death were three wives, Joanne, Vera and Joy. Survivors include daughter, Vicki Sky Ellis (Bill) of Haughton, Louisiana and their four daughters; son, Steve (Pam) of Atmore, Alabama, and their four children; adopted son, Robert (Bob) and wife, Joni of Fort Worth, Texas and their two daughters. John was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and nephews, Robert and Brian (Jan). He is also survived by stepdaughter, Rhonda Boston (Jim) and their two sons; and step-granddaughters, Brandi Cason, Sherri Cox (Gary), Kim Chandler (Jerry), Tara Ellis, and Laurie Gentry (Robert).

Honoring John as pallbearers will be Shelby Keith, Tommy Keene, Gary McAnelly, Ronnie Jordan, Dakota Boston, and Colton Boston. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the men of The Healing Place.
