John Douglas Sepulvado

We celebrate the life of John Douglas Sepulvado, a longtime resident of Keithville, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who went home to the Lord on July 20, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on December 3, 1936, to Irene and Virgil Sepulvado, Douglas grew up with strong family roots and an even stronger work ethic. At just 16 years old, he made his way to Shreveport, where he built a life rich in love, faith, and hard work. He never forgot the people who helped him along the way, guiding and supporting him as he made Keithville his home.

On May 17, 1958, Douglas married his sweetheart, Mary Pawnee Sepulvado, beginning 67 beautiful years of marriage. Together they raised five children: Tammy Johnson, Douglas Clark Sepulvado, Velvet McGraw, Penny Brown (married to Jeff), and Kelvin Sepulvado (married to Ruth). His legacy lives on through his six treasured grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him boundless joy and pride.

Douglas was a man who never shied away from hard work. He dedicated 15 years to Foremost, 18 years to McLean Trucking, and 15 years to Caddo Parish School Board. A proud member of the Teamsters Union, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and to serve his community. For over 50 years, Douglas was a faithful worshiper at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, living out his faith through quiet devotion and loving service.

His life was defined by kindness, humility, and an unshakeable love for his family. Whether offering a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or simply his warm presence, Douglas touched countless lives and left an enduring mark on all who knew him.

The family wishes to honor Douglas’s pallbearers: Blake Robinson, Ray Sonnier, James Sepulvado, Pete Hawthorne, Mike Laroux, Gary Flint, Preston Parker, Jeff Cox, and Waylon Salter. Honorary pallbearers are his late nephews, Carroll Louis Sepulvado Jr. and Dennis Cade Sepulvado. Douglas would have been so proud to be carried to his resting place by these men, each chosen for the love, respect, and friendship they shared with him throughout his life.

The family also wishes to give special recognition to his granddaughter Amanda Wortman for her unwavering dedication and care. Amanda went above and beyond—taking Douglas to his grocery trips, ensuring he never missed an appointment, and lending her time, energy, and heart in countless other ways. Her kindness and devotion brought comfort not only to Douglas but to all who loved him.

The Sepulvado family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the medical staff who cared for Douglas with such compassion in his final days.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, 1050 Bert Kouns, Shreveport, Louisiana.
