SHREVEPORT, LA - A Celebration of Life Service for John Paul Renfro, 92, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Dr. David Brice. Interment will be at Gray Community Cemetery, Gray, TX. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at the funeral home.
John was born July 12, 1926, in Logansport, LA to Armenia Fielder and Paul Renfro and passed away August 22, 2018 in Bossier City, LA. He graduated from C.E. Byrd in 1944, and went straight into the United States Army and to the Philippines to fight in WWll. After coming home, he graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana as a school teacher and taught for 40 years. John taught at Greenwood, Midway, and was principal at Summerfield when it opened. While teaching, he received his Masters from LSU Baton Rouge. He loved teaching almost as much as he loved his summers on Lake Greeson.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Jean Gray Renfro, his parents, and his sister, Peggy Lowder. Left to cherish his memory are his son Greg Renfro and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Nathan and Hannah Renfro; brother, Bobby Renfro and wife Judy; sister, Mary Ann Moore and husband W. A.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring John as pallbearers will be Andy Bond, Drew Bond, Kirk Kesinger, Charles Lowder, Michael Moore and Nathan Renfro.
The family would like to express their sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Northwest LA War Veterans Home for their care and compassion.
