Shreveport, LA. - Funeral services for John Ralph James, age 93 will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, LA with Bro. Paul Murdock , pastor of the Cross Creek Cowboy Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Highway 169 in Longwood, LA. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 9^th at Rose-Neath, Marshall Street from 5-7 p.m. Mr. James was born in Shreveport, LA on August 2, 1923 to Edwin Gregory James and Ethel Mercer James and passed away on November 7, 2016 in Shreveport, LA. He was a US Navy Veteran and retired from SWEPCO after 40 years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris Solomon James; daughter, Miriam Higginbotham; brothers, Bill and Eddie James and sister, Lillian Wren. He is survived by his sons, Rusty James and wife, Marianne; Jon-Jon James and wife Charla; Benny James and wife, Pam; Troy James all of Shreveport, LA and daughter, Cheryl Bac of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek James and wife, Jenny; Scott James, Kimberly Rushing and husband, Keith; Chad Bac and wife Christy; Nathan Bac and wife, Mary; Annie Cherry and husband, David; Brandi Peek and husband, Ryan; Vangie James, Brittany James, Tyler James, Nolan James and Hunter James, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Honoring Mr. James as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Derek, Scott, Nathan, Tyler, Nolan and Hunter. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Cherry, Chad Bac, Michael Bac, Harry Solomon and B. W. Mercer. The family suggests that donations be made to Mt. Zion Cemetery Association, 1306 Holiday Place, Bossier City, LA. 71112
