John Robert Barnes

John Robert Barnes, age 62 of Shreveport, Louisiana succumbed to his battle with cancer on December 18, 2023.  He was born on April 25, 1961, in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

John was an experienced operator with Halliburton for over 11+ years, in which he dedicated himself to his career. He was an avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fan, along with the Miami Dolphins having lived in Hollywood, FL during his childhood.  He went to his first ever LSU football game in Tiger Stadium with daughter Breighlynn in November 2022 to watch the LSU Tigers take down the Alabama Crimson Tide in overtime.  He had a passion for food, specifically a great steak and a Strawn’s pie. 

He loved spending time with his family, road trips traveling to festivals with girlfriend Cyndi, visiting his brother Bill Barnes, who lives in Destin, FL and above all spending time with his grandchildren. teaching his oldest grandson, Jadon to drive and watching his only granddaughter compete in both soccer and swim, while also dedicating time to watching his youngest grandson Graham play baseball. Retirement couldn’t come soon enough, so he could dedicate his time doing what those kids loved. He cherished those moments, and his presence will ever be etched in all their memories. 

John is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert L. Barnes, Jr and Gladys P. Barnes and parents, Albery LeRoy Barnes III and Elizabeth Kathryn Barnes.

John is survived by his long-term girlfriend, Cyndi Love, brother, William (Bill) Barnes, son, Billy Barnes and wife Jennifer Barnes, daughters, Brittany Barnes and Breighlynn Barnes, grandchildren, Jadon Grant (16), Riley Barnes (12) and Graham Barnes (9). 

A visitation will be held on December 21, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home South, 2500 Southside Dr. Shreveport, LA 71118, followed by graveside service at Forest Park East, 3700 St. Vincent Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103 at 12:00 p.m. Honoring John as pallbearers will be Terry Martin, Corey Davis, Gene Williams, Elmo McCall, and Ahmad Williams.
