Joe Moore

Funeral services for Mr. Joseph D. Moore will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Arcadia with burial to follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery. Bro. Jeff Hoffman will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Joe was born April 27, 1941, in Arcadia, Louisiana to Abner Verner Moore and Lou Ellen Reese Moore. He passed away on January 31, 2023, in Minden, Louisiana, with his loving family by his side.

Joe was a member at First Baptist Church of Arcadia. After attending LSU for a year, he returned home where he took over the family dairy.  It was here that he started his life with his wife Jean, and continued to operate a dairy, poultry, beef cattle farm, and Moore Wood Shavings business.  However, one of his favorite past times was quail hunting with family.  Farming may have been his life, but his true love was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all he knew.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Lou Ellen Moore, and by his sisters Louise Bango, Margaret Bridges, and Geraldine Bridges.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife Jean Moore, children Billy Moore and wife Angie, Brian Moore and wife Leigh Ann, and Brandi Spurlock and husband Brian, grandchildren Brooke Giddens and husband Brent, Katelyn Moore, Sydney Moore, Kevin Moore, Lane Spurlock, Cole Spurlock, and Kennedy Spurlock, sisters Betty Jean Beams and Laverne Kendrick, and by numerous other nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Spigener, Brad Spigener, Todd Ruple, Jeff Howell, Kevin Moore, Lane Spurlock, Cole Spurlock, and Keith Camp.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Stewart, Wade Perritt, Larry Barnett, and Bobby Joe King.
