Joe Lafitte, 78, of Blanchard, Louisiana passed away on September 20, 2025 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Joe is survived by his daughter Dixie (Randy) Deaver, brother Ron (Susan) Lafitte, sisters Pat Cardino and Darlene Lafitte, grandchildren Lindsey Deaver and fiancé Jesse Key, Mitchell Waters and Matthew Waters, former wife of 20 years Diane Lafitte, and son in law Tommy Waters.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Ora Lee Lafitte, and daughter Melissa Waters.
Joe was born in Linden, Texas on November 29, 1946. His family later moved to Shreveport. He was a hard worker at an early age and threw a paper route on his bicycle for the Shreveport Times. He graduated from Byrd High School. Joe then joined the US Navy at the age of 17. He served on the USS Coral Sea working on the flight deck during the Vietnam War. He always talked about his experiences in the Navy and getting to travel the world. After serving 4 years in the US Navy, he returned back home to Shreveport to join his dad in the Lafitte Trucking business. Joe then took over the business hauling river sand to all of the Ark-La-Tex for over 40 years.
Joe enjoyed collecting coins, traveling, spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, watching football, and listening to country music. He always talked about getting to see Hank Williams Sr. at the Municipal Auditorium as a child and then meeting Ernest Tubb in person as an adult. He liked to spend time with friends and have a good time. He was a generous man that always liked to help others.
A private Celebration of Life is being held in his honor.
