Joe Ann Ford Hill was born on December 4, 1939, and on July 28, 2026, while surrounded by her immediate family, she passed gently and peacefully from this earthly life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton B. Hill, her parents, Harley and Syble Bossier Ford; her brothers, Harley Wayne Ford and Robert Thomas Ford; her sister, Mary LaVerne Baker and brother-in-law, Bobby Dean Baker.
She is survived by her three children, Belinda Corder (Dave), David Hill (Yolanda), and Cynthia Collier (Wayne); niece, Amanda Hobdy (Reid); five grandchildren, Quinton Hill (Ana), Valarie Lambert (James), Heather Kirspel (Brad), Hannah Hall (Will), and Nathan Collier; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin Wyatt (Brianna), Raylee Leone (Jacob), Dylan Wyatt (Morgan), Kamrey Hill, Destiny Wyatt, Teagan Hill, Leo Kirspel, and Penelope Hall; great-nephew, Jonathan Hobdy; two great-great-grandchildren, Jonah Leone and Riggs Davis; and two sisters-in-law, Faye Ford and Marian Lafitte.
Joe Ann, known as MJ or Mama Joe to her family, was a talented quilter. She took great joy in cooking for her family and for anyone else who was hungry, making the best buttermilk biscuits in the world. She played piano and looked for every opportunity to join in singing the old shaped note singing convention songs. She was most happy at bluegrass festivals and Southern Gospel concerts.
Funeral services for Joe Ann will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Union Springs Cemetery in Converse, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating will be Pastor Jimmy Price.
Honoring Joe Ann as pallbearers will be Jonathan Hobdy, Dylan Wyatt, Dustin Wyatt, Teagan Hill, Harley Ford, and Nathan Collier. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Charles Ford and Gary Calhoun.
