SHREVEPORT, LA - Joe M Badt II, age 88 passed away October 4, 2018 after a decade long battle with Alzheimer's. He was a lifelong resident of Shreveport, graduating from C.E. Byrd High School and The University of Texas. He then served his country in the United Sates Army in Korea. After he returned from the military he began his career at Shreveport Garment before he and his wife, Helen opened up Magnolia Garment. He had his second career working in commercial real estate with Dupree, Felt and Young.
Joe was an active board member of the Lions Club International and helped start the Northwest Louisiana Eye Lions Eye Bank. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time in his second home in Snowmass Village, CO.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Hyman and Mary T Badt, sister Emily Gassenheimer and the love of his life, his wife Helen Badt. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Bernstein, husband Sam of Charlotte, NC; son Joe M Badt, Jr., wife Deb of Shreveport and his grandchildren, Karen Bernstein, Elizabeth Bernstein Rifkin, husband Cameron, Jenna Bernstein, Savannah Badt and Taylor Badt.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery, 130 E. Stoner Ave. Services will be officiated by Rabbi Dr. Jana L. De Benedetti of B'nai Zion Congregation.
We would like to thank Drs. Moller and McRight for their care through the years, as well as his long-term care giver Jackie LaCour, Eartha Garner and all the staff at the Glen Retirement System.
