Minden- JoAnne Holder Spigener (Nana) passed away April 2, 2021 after a long fought battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born in Bernice, LA on December 11, 1934 to William and Bernice Holder.
JoAnne graduated from Farmerville High School in 1952 and Louisiana College in 1956. She taught business at Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA. She completed her teaching career at North Central Area Vocational School in Farmerville, LA. In 1979.
She married the love of her life, Leslie Spigener, on July 4, 1970. They traveled during their retirement years until her Parkinson's made it too difficult. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
JoAnne enjoyed playing cards with friends and she took it quite seriously. You were better off being her partner than on the opposing team.
Her love for the Lord was genuine and she demonstrated it in her everyday life. She taught Sunday School throughout her life and in her retirement years taught a Women's Circle Bible Study at First Baptist Minden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Bernice Holder, Siblings: Lois Holleman (Cliff), Pauline Perry (Clint), Alice Joiner (Mitchell), Bill Holder (Farrah), Felix Holder, and Don Holder (Alene).
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Leslie Spigener, her sister-in-law, Betty Sue Holder, Daughters: Mona Farley (Craig) of Minden, Cindy Jeansonne (Lyle) of Shreveport, and Cathy Mancini (John) of Tennessee. Grandchildren: Mike Farley, Cami Farley, Megan Farley Marttila, Joseph Donald, Thomas Jeansonne (Kristen), David Jeansonne (Emily), Matthew Jeansonne, Rachel Jeansonne, Cassidy Mancini, Megan Mancini and Jack Mancini. Great-grandchildren: Dusti Farley, Garrette Farley, Hannah Farley, Riley Marttila, Lily Marttila, Madison Jeansonne, Katie Gray and Hayden Gray; Her "like sisters" Barbara Roberts and Pam Denton as well as a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Minden, LA with visitation prior to the service at 12:30. Officiating the service will be Bro. Leland Crawford, Bill Crider and Steve Gilley. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers: Don Sawyer, Laddie Ulmer, Ken Fryer, Roger Harper, Robert McKillips and Wayne Chance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to First Baptist Church building fund or the charity of your choice.
