Jo Ann "Nanny" Smith

On the morning of her 83^rd birthday, July 8, 2023, Mrs. Jo Ann Smith “Nanny” went to meet her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with the love of her life.

She was loved by everyone who met her, and quickly became “Nanny” to all. She was a devoted follower of Christ, and never shied away from a spirited discussion about her beliefs. Despite chronic illness Nanny remained fiercely independent and stayed active in the lives of her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Linnard “Smokey” Smith, her daughter, Sharon, her son Dickey Joe, her parents, Inez Axton and Joe Hardy, her sister, Sue Pruitt, and her brother, Troy Hardy. She is also preceded in death by many of her closest friends.

She is survived by her Brother Don Hardy and wife Lily, her son Johnny Ray Butler, her daughter Liz Allen and husband Bo, and her son Lee Butler and wife Vicki. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family, and beloved friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Pastor Trey Waller officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
