Jo Ann Hurst Jenkins Huber

Jo Ann Hurst Jenkins Huber passed over into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 26, 2026. Born in Gadsden, Alabama on June 2, 1933, to Henry Lee and Bertha Lee Hurst, she moved with her family to Shreveport, Louisiana when she was ten years old. Jo Ann grew up the youngest of ten children, in a family filled with love and joy. Blessed with a rich Christian heritage, Jo Ann accepted Christ at the age of ten.

On September 23, 1951, Jo Ann Hurst married Ray Trinton Jenkins following her graduation from Fair Park High School and his graduation from Centenary College. They were blessed with a daughter and a son, who were immeasurably blessed by their parents. They were also blessed with a granddaughter in 1989 and grandson in 1992, and later two great-grandchildren. Ray and Jo Ann were married until his passing on November 19, 1991.

Jo Ann married Frederick John "Jay" Huber on July 12, 2001, and was blessed by his family. He passed on April 3, 2026.

Gifted with a beautiful soprano voice, Jo Ann loved singing in the choir in high school, church, the Shreveport Choral Ensemble, and Sweet Adelines. She sang at many weddings, and continuously at home.

She was an excellent seamstress and cook and interior decorator. Jo Ann had the beautiful gift of hospitality and was the life of the party. Her life was focused on God, family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend to many. She had a very giving heart, and flowers were a delight to her soul.

Jo Ann worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Jones Blair Paint Company, Pro Inc., National Electrical Contractors Association, and Clarkes Jewelers in sales.

She has been reunited in heaven with her parents; her husband, Ray; her in-laws; her siblings, Bill, Robert, Harris, James, Martha, Jack, Betty and Forrest, many relatives; husband, Jay; and so many friends.

She is survived by her daughter, April Jenkins Bradshaw and son-in-law, Martin; her son, Lee Trinton Jenkins and daughter-in-law, Paula; granddaughter Emelie (Eric) Daufenbach; grandson, Trint (Terri) Jenkins; great-granddaughter, Chloe Daufenbach; great-grandson, Levi Daufenbach; brother, Don Hurst and sister-in-law, Alice; and many nieces and nephews.
