J.K. Richard

A Mass of Christian Burial for J.K. Richard will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Road, Benton, Louisiana with Celebrant Father Pike Thomas. The Rosary will be held 9:00 a.m., with a visitation from 9:30 until 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 1000 East Travis Street, Marshall, Texas 75670. J.K. passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. J.K. always enjoyed spending time with his family on Easter and Christmas. He especially loved making fudge and spending rainy days with his "hunny". He and his wife owned Brake-O Brakes for 45 years and recently built their last endeavor together, Richard Plaza. He was a good friend of Bill for 50 years. At the very least he was a very fun person and will be missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis R. Richard and Celina A. Richard; daughter, Mary Louise Richard; son, Timmy Richard; grandson, Joseph K. Cockrell; sister, Virginia R. Planche and brother, Harold F. Richard; and the mother of his seven children, Janie Prycer. J.K. is survived by his loving spouse of 48 years, Kay C. Richard; daughters, Denise R. Sanford and husband, Steve, Kathy Affrunti and Jodie Kaye Cockrell; sons, J.R. Richard and wife, Julie, Michael Richard and wife, Shay, Ricky Richard and wife, Suzanne; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honoring J.K. as pallbearers will be Layne Bonvillain, Richard Choate, Johnathan Gill, Ron Lipham, Jimmy McDonald, Dan Sonnier, Mike Talley and Robert Tucker. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Highland Club, 1711 Tulane Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana 71103.
