A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jimmy “Pete” H. Burks, 84, will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Brother Mike Schultz.
Pete was born on January 11, 1942, to John and Ruby Burks in Ivan, Louisiana, and passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Ivan. Louisiana.
Pete graduated from Rocky Mt. High School in 1960 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in science from Northwestern State University in 1964. He worked for Red Barn Chemical, and after several years, he and Dale Hopper opened Benton Farm Supply, where he built strong relationships within the community. Later, Pete farmed and raised cattle, a way of life he truly enjoyed. He was a proud Mason and a dedicated Shriner, carrying those commitments with honor throughout his life.
Pete loved his family and friends deeply, and he cherished the time he spent with them. His kindness, loyalty, and steady presence touched many lives, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Pete was preceded in death by his father, John Burks; his mother, Ruby Louise McBeth Burks; his brother, Robert L. “Billy” Burks; and his nephew, Robert L. “Bill” Burks, Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stephanie Burks Agee, and husband, Joe; granddaughter, Taylor Agee; great-grandson, Kylan Agee; and brother and sister-in-law, “Gene” and Vickie Burks. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Darlene Tyler, her daughter, Jessica Burden, and his grandchildren, Skyler Porter, Mason Burden, and Jolee Brown.
Serving Pete as honorary pallbearers will be Joe Agee, Ty Martin, Tom Clark, Dale Hopper, Julian Whittington, Donnie Keith, Mike Gibson, and Kolton Vaughn.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jackie Martin for her support and helpfulness to our family during this time. Also, thanks to Avril Stephens, his nurse, for her kindness and compassion during this difficult time.
