A private graveside service for Jimmy Layne Reeves, 81, will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent. Officiating the service will be Brother Cleve Cyrus.
Jimmy was born on April 17, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Leonard and Katherine Reeves and passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Jimmy had a servant's heart. He never met a stranger and would actually give the shirt off his back to anyone at any time. He was known for his love of antique furniture and was a collector of many things. He enjoyed traveling all over the country with his sister, Judy. One of their most memorable trips was to Eureka Springs for Judy's high school graduation.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Leonard Wayne Reeves and Charles Phillip Reeves. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Judy Reeves Burge and husband, Mitch; brother, Billy Jake Reeves; special nephew, Jeremy Burge and partner, Joseph Moore; nephews, Jimmy Reeves, Eddie Reeves, Billy Reeves and Phillip Reeves and sister-in-law, Brenda Reeves.
Honoring Jimmy as pallbearers will be his special nephew, Jeremy Burge, Mitch Burge, Jimmy Wayne Reeves, Joseph Moore, Johnny Rhodes, Jesse Booth, Margaret Shehee Cole and Hannah Hickman.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his colleagues from Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company and Rose-Neath Funeral Homes.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of Willis-Knighton Bossier, the Step-Down Unit, Dr. San Pedro and Dr. Ramirez for the care and compassion shown to Jimmy.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to his church, Bellevue Union Church, 199 Bodcau Dam Rd., Haughton, LA 71037 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
