Funeral services for Jimmy L. Smith, 73, will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral. Officiating the service will be Dr. Derrick Hills. Jimmy was born on May 31, 1948 to George William Smith and Elizabeth O'Boyle Smith in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Shreveport. Jimmy was a resident of Shreveport and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Later he worked as a Trust Officer for First National Bank before retiring. He was a member of Mangum United Methodist Church where he taught an adult Sunday school class and sang in the choir. He adored his family, grandchildren and great-grandchild. His family was his hobby. He loved family get-togethers and being there for each and every one of them. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 37 years, Gloria Smith; children, Robert Smith, Chris Spears and wife, Alix, Jennifer Lofton and husband, Kenneth, Jeremy Spears and wife, April; grandchildren, Jacob Watson and wife, Allison, Shelby Robinson and husband, Daniel, Kyleigh Smith, Andrew Spears, Isaac Spears, Aaron Spears, Jackson Spears, Addie Spears; and great-grandchild, Hayley Merritt; brother, David Smith and wife, Kyong; sisters, Susan McCord and husband, Larry and Sharon Godare and husband, Bill. Honoring Jimmy as pallbearers will be Robert Smith, Jeremy Spears, Christopher Spears, Jordan Rodgers, Kenneth Lofton and Daniel Robinson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Spears, Isaac Spears, Aaron Spears, Jackson Spears and Jacob Watson.
