Jimmy R. (J.R.) Johnson

Funeral services for Jimmy R. (J.R.) Johnson will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with John Cole officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in Gibsland, Louisiana.

Jimmy was born June 16, 1935, in Gibsland, Louisiana and entered into rest May 29, 2026, in Minden, Louisiana.

Jimmy was in the banking business for 66 years. He was employed at Gibsland Bank for 58 years, serving as President, Chairman and Ceo until his retirement. He was also a member of the Lions Club for 63 years; treasurer of Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Association for 40 years; Bidco board for 20 years; a Methodist Conference delegate for 35 years at Gibsland Methodist Church; original founder of Revival 2000 in Gibsland and Mt Lebanon Historical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Andy and Maggie Grace Johnson, his first wife Betty Kimball Johnson, second wife, Bobby Jan Johnson, daughter, Alicia Johnson Pesnell and brother, Wiliam Larry Johnson.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy R. Johnson Jr & wife Tina of Gibsland, sister, Marsha Lynn Andrews of Mt. Lebanon, grandchildren, Stormie Johnson, Chelsea Martin, and James P. Martin, and a host of other relatives.

The family extends a special thank you to his caregivers, Sharon Coleman, Lakisha Fields, Michaell Richardson, Samantha Smith, Gloria Scruggs, and Margie Baker.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery Association, Gibsland Methodist Church, Oak Grove Methodist Church, or donor’s choice.
