Jimmy Copeland of Taylor, Louisiana passed away peacefully at home at the age of 90, on July 13, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was born on October 15, 1934, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Allen B. Copeland and Alice Vize Copeland. Jimmy grew up in Taylor with his brother Bo Copeland, where they helped on the farm. He married the love of his life, Yvonne Botzong in September of 1954. He worked for Woodard and Walker Lumber Company and retired from Willamette Industries in 1999, at the age of 65. Following his retirement, Jimmy stayed busy with his cows, many building projects and taking trips with Yvonne to Branson and all through Arkansas. Jimmy was a life-long member and a deacon of Taylor Baptist Church and made sure his family attended and was raised in church.

Jimmy was very proud of the Woodard Cemetery where he was chairman of the cemetery committee for many years. Jimmy was a family man and raised four children in Taylor. Jimmy loved to spend time with family and friends to talk about the old times.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Allen Copeland and mother, Alice Copeland, brother, Bo Copeland and wife of 66 years, Yvonne Copeland.

Left to cherish his memory his sons, Tony Copeland and wife Pam of Taylor, Neal Copeland and wife Faye of Taylor, and Jamie Copeland and wife Denise of Shreveport; daughter, Donna Copeland of Shreveport; twelve grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Taylor Baptist Church in Taylor, Louisiana with Bro. Kenny Rowe officiating. Interment will follow at Woodard Cemetery in Taylor, Louisiana under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden.

Pallbearers will be Pearce Copeland, Richard Jowers, Chris Williams, Lyle McCoy, Hayden Williams, Peyton Williams, Paul Lawler, and Jarred Copeland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Boddie, Allen Boddie, Justin “JD” Copeland, James McFarland, Royce Stovall, Johnny Williams, Lanny McCoy, and Wyatt Copeland.

The family extends special appreciation to Passages Hospice staff and nurses, sitters, Lolita Ferguson, Kim Smith, Carol McCarter, Sherry Keener, and special friend Celeste Blank.
