Jimmy Ray Brown, age 84, passed away January 31, 2026. Born in Oak Grove, Louisiana, Jimmy lived a life defined by family, hard work, laughter, love, and the Lord.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, JC Brown and Drucie Gates Brown; his wife Brenda Ott Brown; and his brother Murdock Allen Brown.
He is survived by his daughter, Kay Price and her husband Charlie; his son, Johnny Brown and his wife Shannon; his granddaughter Savannah Jones and her husband Blake; his grandson JC Brown and his girlfriend Evelyn Butler; his great grandchildren, JJ Jones and Allie Jones; his sister, Juanita McDonald; his granddog, Bocephus Price; and his coon dog Roe.
Jimmy loved his church, Mitchell Baptist Church. He took great pride in being a member. His biggest hobby was coon hunting which led to his CB radio handle of “Coon Hunter.” He loved all aspects of the outdoors, especially deer hunting. He had many nicknames with the two favorite being “Downtown Jimmy Brown” and “Ole Man on The Hill.” He worked 39 years at Bird and Son Roofing.
Funeral services for Jimmy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Mitchell Baptist Church, 15551 Highway 174, Converse, LA. Services will be led by Brother Bobbye Russell and Brother Randy Leonard. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Mitchell Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Dyess, Clint Houston, Talton McDonald, Chooch LaRoux, Tick Johnson, JC Brown, and Nathan McDonald.
Jimmy will live on in the many lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
