Jimmie Ray Turner

Jimmie Ray Turner, also known as "Puddy" of Shreveport, Louisiana, went to be with Jesus on May 2, 2026, at the age of 78. Jimmie Ray was born on August 4, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Arthur Turner and Reatha McDonald Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana.  A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service. Officiating the service will be Dr. Murry Hodge. Burial will take place on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd. in Keithville, Louisiana.

Jimmie Ray graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1965 and served in the United States Army. He later dedicated 26 years of service to the Shreveport Police Department, retiring with the rank of Captain. After retirement, Jimmie Ray went to work as security at the U.S. Government Federal Courthouse and the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Courthouse.

Jimmie Ray was a faithful member of Summer Grove Baptist Church. He displayed his strong Christian faith in how he lived and loved others. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness, warmth, and generosity touched everyone who knew him. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, always willing to put others before himself.

He had a gift for storytelling and loved sharing memories that brought laughter and connection. His positive spirit and sense of humor could brighten any room. He especially enjoyed traveling and making memories, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and selflessness. His family will always be grateful for the lessons he taught, the memories he gave, and the love he so freely shared.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Beth Turner; son, Steven Turner and wife, Mary; daughters, Ali Dies and husband, Ross, and Amy Nelson and husband, Jeffrey; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Jimmie Ray as pallbearers will be Mason Dies, Ross Dies, Tony Lucas, Ethan McMahon, Jeffrey Nelson and Jacob Vaitkus.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in honor of Jimmie Ray.

Our family will always love him and treasure our time together and the beautiful memories we made.
