Jessie Franklin Davis

Jessie Franklin Davis went to his heavenly home on December 31, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded in love and prayers.

Jessie was born on June 23, 1950, in Coushatta. He was born to L. C. Davis and Lillian Clarice Davis. He grew up in Shreveport and at the age of 15, he returned to Red River Parish where he graduated from Hall Summit High School in 1969. After high school, he served as a United States Marine where he was honorably discharged. Once he returned home, he began working in the log woods. He married the love of his life, Debra Barnard. They went on to build a life together for 54 years. They had three children, Angela, Crystal, and Cory.

Throughout the years, Jessie was mayor of Hall Summit, coached a women’s softball team (J. D. Angels), a mechanic in the oil field, and finally worked for the DOTD here in Red River Parish.

He was always outside whether it was working on something or in his garden. He loved fishing, hunting, football, and NASCAR. His wife, kids, and grandkids were his world. He would help anyone at any time. He was the one our family came to for help or advice.

To his children, he was their hero and the strongest man they knew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L. C. and Lillian Clarice Davis; daughter, Angela Marie Davis, all of Hall Summit; granddaughter, Annaleigh Layne Davis of Ashland; sisters, Barbara Gour of Hall Summit and Linda Davis of Hall Summit; and in-laws, A. G. and Ada Barnard of Hall Summit.

Jessie is survived by his beloved, wife, Debra; daughter, Crystal Briggs and husband, Jason of Hall Summit; son, Cory Davis and wife, Kimberly of Ashland; his granddaughters, Ava Davis and Ada Davis of Ashland; and one grandson, Zachary Briggs of Hall Summit. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of family and friends. Two special brothers-in-law, Roy Barnard of Hall Summit and Raymond Payne of Crossroads; and a special sister-in-law, Evelyn Payne.

Jessie’s family is comforted knowing he is with his Lord and Savior and that he is rejoicing with no pain and suffering.

Pallbearers will be Cory Davis, Jason Briggs, Kevin Woodard, Johnny Barnard, Andrew Barnard, and Robert Neal.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jase Johnson, Travis Dowden, James Gour, Robert Johnson, James Woodard, T. J. Dowden, and Matt Allums.
