Bubba was born January 20th 1948 in Center TX to John R and Nettie Tomlin. While attending Buna High he found his passion for pole-vaulting on the high school track team. This led to him becoming a state champion pole vaulter. Also, while in high school he met the love of his life Frances. The two would go on to share many years of happiness with four beautiful daughters. Bubba was an avid outdoorsman. His love for hunting and fishing was known by all. If you haven't heard a story or two about his hunting and fishing trips you are surly missing out. He always had the best toys from dirt bikes, cars and motorcycles to big jacked up jeeps and guns. Not to forget his enormous knife and cane collections. His knives had to be so sharp you could shave the hair off your arms. His canes well that is another story in itself. Although his large collection of canes was never far from him he was always searching for one or using it as a hook. You knew not to walk to close and was given fair warning when entering the house. It didn't take long for you to know you had gotten too close, but by then it was too late and you would be snatched up right between the legs as you heard him yelling "Oh I got a big one." Over the years Bubba would go on to pass the love of the outdoors, toys, and jokes onto his children and grandchildren. Bubba was a jack of all trades. He could build anything you needed out of what materials he had laying around. There were many things he loved from listening and signing old country songs, a good John Wayne film to his dogs. How could we forget the dogs. I think we all questioned a time or two who does he really love more? Most of all Bubba's love for GOD was well known. God was the only thing he loved more than Frances. It was nothing for him to strike up a conversation to tell you about his GOD. It never mattered where he was or who was listening. It was always said that he was our direct line to GOD. That line may be long distance now, but family and friends will forever have a top-notch guardian angel very close by.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kelly, Selena, Brenda, Seth, and Monica of the Regional Hospice team.
