HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Mr. Jerry W. Thompson, age 77, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Homer, LA, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Danny Baskin, officiating. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery in Homer. The family received friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service.Mr. Thompson was born on June 29, 1942, in Smackover, AR, to Galen W. and Bonnell Teague Thompson. He entered into rest on Saturday, February 1, 2020, in Homer at his residence. Mr. Thompson served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and retired as a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was a Financial planner with Travelers Insurance and City Group. Mr. Thompson worked at Wade Correctional as a drug abuse counselor for inmates. Building wheelchair ramp with the MCAT was one of his passions for his community, as well as, serving with the local chapter of the Jaycees. He enjoyed ministering to others through his music, as he sang Christian music for special occasions. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pamela Pigage Thompson; two sons, Keith Thompson and wife Cathy of Shreveport and Ken Thompson of Homer; eight grandchildren, Kody, Katie, Kallie, Kade, Allyson, Caleb, Corey, and Caylea; two great-grandchildren, Ace and Cash.Pallbearers were Craig Corley, Mark Boyd, Corey Thompson, Kody Thompson, Kade Thompson, and Whit Whitton.In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Thompson, his family suggests memorials be made to MCAT, 3647 Hwy 146, Homer, LA 71040.
