Jerry L. Roten

Funeral services celebrating the life of Jerry L. Roten will be held Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Officiating will be Bro. Charles Lechner. Interment will follow at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly, Louisiana.

Jerry was born August 28, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana and left this earthly life for his heavenly home July 23, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Jerry received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Louisiana Tech and his Doctorate from Southwestern Theological Seminary. Jerry loved the Lord and led many souls to Jesus and baptized countless believers. He loved go-cart racing and won the IKF National Championship in 1986. Jerry loved LSU football, was an avid duck and deer hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Paulette.

He is survived by his wife Ada P. Roten of Dubberly, sons, Shannon Roten (Deanna) of Haughton and Shane Roten of Minden, grandchildren, Kimber (Eddie), Nikki (Sam), Brandon (Faith), and Drake (Emma), and great-grandchildren, Molli, Jack, and Brooks.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Roten, Drake Roten, Sam Gullatt, Robert Perryman, Mike Perryman, Paul Kitchens, George Simolke, and Bud Perryman. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Smith and Steve Lemmons.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude.

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
