Jerry Alexander McCoy was born on August 26, 1935, and passed away on November 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Jerry lived a full and fun life surrounded by family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

Jerry graduated from Jamestown High School in 1953. He began his working career as an apprentice in the printing industry in Ringgold, Louisiana. He went on to establish his own business, Modern Printing, in Minden, Louisiana. Jerry also spent part of his career working with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office after completing the police academy requirements at the age of 71.

Jerry believed in working hard and enjoying life. He had a lifelong love of horse racing and especially enjoyed spending time with his buddies playing gin at Pine Hills Country Club. Those afternoons filled with cards, laughter, friendly competition, and good conversation were among his favorite pastimes. He was also involved with the Minden Civitan organization and served as President for many years. Jerry valued the friendships and connections he made throughout his community.

Above all, Jerry loved his family. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed. The memories made with him, the stories shared, and the time spent together will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herman McCoy and Girlie Hughes McCoy; his sister, Willie McCoy Woodard; and his son, Mike McCoy.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Loe McCoy of Bossier City; his sister, Geraldine McCoy Barmore and husband David of Jamestown; his son, Brian McCoy and wife D of Minden; and his stepdaughters, Amy Ray and husband Dennis of Blanchard and Allison Halbert and husband Josh of Benton.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Paige McCoy Salas and husband Tony of Minden, Blaine McCoy and wife Madison of Minden, Taylor Hockenberry and husband JP of Benton, Daniel Halbert and wife Jessica of Benton and Zach Halbert of Benton. Six great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Although his family and friends will miss him dearly, they will find comfort in the memories he leaves behind. His legacy will continue through the generations of family who loved him and the many friendships he built throughout his life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to The Blake of Bossier City, Superior Hospice, and Always Best Care sitter service for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided Jerry. A special thank-you is also extended to Randy and Julie Nix for their thoughtfulness, generosity, and frequent care packages.

Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Halbert, Zach Halbert, Blaine McCoy, Tony Salas, JP Hockenberry, Greg Houser, and Randy Nix.

Jerry’s life will be celebrated with visitation at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, La. on Monday, November 9th from 10:00-12:00, with Graveside services following at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bryceland, La.

He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
