Jerry was born on June 29,1945, in Kinder, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in Minden, Louisiana.
Jerry was raised in Kinder, Louisiana, where he developed a lifelong love for fishing and hunting along the river near his home. He began his career working for the telephone company spending many years serving communities throughout south Louisiana before moving to north Louisiana to continue his work in communications. Later, he founded his own communications business, MarTelco, specializing in telephone system installation. Through both his work and his kindness, Jerry formed many lifelong friendships.
Jerry was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he warmly welcomed others as the church coffee host. He was also a devoted Gideon who took pride in sharing his faith and helping distribute God’s Word. Jerry was known for being honest and straightforward-there was never a doubt about where he stood. He was always willing to help others, could fix almost anything, and never hesitated to lend a hand when someone was in need.
Above all, Jerry loved his family deeply. His greatest joy in life was spending time with those he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Myrtle Lee Marcantel, brother, Alex Clifford Marcantel, and sisters, Peggie Collins and Geneva LeBlanc.
