Jerry Wayne Johnson, Sr.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Jerry Wayne Johnson, Sr., 84, will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11: 00 a.m. at Airline Baptist Church, 4007 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Harrell Shelton.

Jerry was born on February 10, 1942, to Lamar and Mattie Johnson in Ruston, Louisiana, and went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, September 28, 2026, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Jerry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Susan, and together they shared 37 wonderful years. He was a man who loved deeply and gave generously, especially when it came to spoiling his grandchildren. Jerry enjoyed the simple comforts of life, watching television, sharing stories, and making people laugh with his easy humor and friendly nature.

He spent many years as a successful salesman, a career that fit him perfectly because he truly loved people and never met a stranger. Above all, Jerry was a wonderful husband, dad, and Papa whose love for his family was steady and unwavering. He loved the Lord, carried a sincere concern for the salvation of others, and lived his life with a heart full of faith and compassion.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Lamar Johnson; mother, Mattie Sue Johnson; son, Clay Thompson; granddaughter, Savanah Belgard; and sisters, Carolyn Moak and Mary Chandler.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Johnson; daughters, Emily and Suzette Johnson; sons, Glen Thompson, Kurtis Johnson, and Jerry Johnson, Jr.

Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Glen Thompson, Caleb English, Roger Patton, Nate Raudabaugh, Hunter Thompson, and Jason Hale.
