Jerry Darrell Waters

A memorial service for Jerry Darrell Waters, 82, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Summer Grove United Methodist Church, 9119 Dean Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Willis Dear and Reverend Joe Donakey. Jerry was born on February 3, 1939 in Port Barre, Louisiana to Thomas Jefferson Waters and Leta-Mae Box Waters and passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. Jerry graduated from Flora High School in 1957 and Shreveport-Bossier Vocational Technical Center in 1970. He served in the United States Air Force, spending time in Morocco. He worked for General Electric for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church for over 45 years and attended the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class and served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees. An avid gardener, Jerry loved to be outside potting plants, planting trees and having a vegetable garden. He enjoyed reading and cooking brisket. In the last years of his life he spent his time dedicated to the needs of his church by fixing the things that were broken and planting flowers to brighten the entrance. He was most happy spending time with his grandsons, Mitchell and Matthew. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 46 years, Norma Nell Broussard Waters; sister, Carol Waters Spaulding and brothers, Thomas Larry Waters and Tommy Rogers Waters. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, John Russell Waters and Thomas Joseph Waters and wife, Melissa; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Waters Huval and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Mitchell Thomas Waters and Matthew Lafitte Waters and many cousins, nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff of Intensive Specialty Hospital of Bossier City, Louisiana.
