Jerry Don Bagley, Sr.

Jerry Don Bagley, Sr., 80, of Mooringsport, Louisiana, passed away on March 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Jerry was born August 2, 1945, in Vivian, Louisiana, the son of Claude Henry Bagley, Sr. and Mary Ruth Bagley.

Jerry Don graduated from Waskom High School in 1965. He served three years in the Navy including two tours in Vietnam on naval vessels as a Gunner’s Mate where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. On January 3, 1969, Jerry Don married Donna Ruth Bagley at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Shreveport, Louisiana. They shared 27 years of marriage until Donna’s passing. Together, they raised their three children—Alicia Yvonne Thorsen, Jerry Don Bagley, Jr., and Gregory John Bagley—in Waskom, Texas.

Jerry Don later married Bridget Lucille Murphy Bagley on December 29, 2001, in Shreveport, Louisiana. They shared 24 years of marriage until his passing. Through this union, Jerry was blessed with three stepchildren, Joshua Michael Jennings, Jared Matthew Jennings, and Jonas Micah Jennings.

Jerry Don dedicated 45 years of service to Texaco, later Chevron, where he worked in various roles throughout his career. He found great joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, smoking meat on his pit, and riding his Harley. Jerry Don was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club for many years while living in Waskom, Texas.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Bridget Lucille Murphy Bagley; children, Alicia Yvonne Thorsen (husband, Paul Thorsen), Jerry Don Bagley, Jr. (wife, Miriam Bagley) and Gregory John Bagley (wife, Sabrina Bagley), stepchildren, Joshua Michael Jennings (wife, Kasey Jennings), Jared Matthew Jennings (wife, Jacqueline Jennings), and Jonas Micah Jennings; grand-children, Tyler Thorsen, Serenity Bagley, Ariel Bagley, Bailey Bagley, stepgrandchildren, Johnathan-Michael Jennings, Jonah Matthew Jennings, Emory Claire Jennings; sisters, Kay Hayner and Georgia Minette Bagley Sims.

Preceding Jerry Don in death are his first wife, Donna Ruth Bagley; and his parents, Claude Henry Bagley, Sr., and Mary Ruth Bagley; brothers, Claude Henry Bagley, Jr., Jeffrey Mitchel Bagley, and Billy Gale Bagley.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana, with a recital of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 4300 N. Market St., Shreveport, Louisiana with Deacon Jeffrey Chapman officiating. Jerry Don will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Waskom, Texas.
