A memorial service honoring the life of Jeremy Wayne Martin "Big Teddy Bear", 39, will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Airline Drive Church of Christ, 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Ben Brewster will officiate the service.
Jeremy was born on September 29, 1981 in Bossier City, Louisiana to Sandra and Jerry Martin and passed way, Saturday, December 12, 2020. His birth was the best birthday present a dad could ever receive. He grew up mostly in Benton, LA where he graduated from Benton High School in 1999. He played high school basketball for three years and high school baseball for four years. Jeremy had a passion for fishing. He once "borrowed" the Chief of Police's boat and took it out on a private pond. After graduation he worked most of his life in the oil fields spending many a lonely night away from his loving family.
He met the love of his life, Christy Willis, and they were married on December 1, 2005. He showed what a huge heart he had by raising Christy's children, Allie and Aidan, as his own and by continuing to raise and love them after Christy passed in 2019.
Jeremy was preceded in death by his wife of 14 years, Christy Nichole Willis Martin; maternal grandparents, Hiram and Lacie Blankenship; paternal grandfather, Charles Ray Martin; several aunts and uncles and very special friends, Pat and Jr Coe, who helped raise him.
Jeremy is survived by his children, Alice Norman and Aidan Willis; father, Jerry Martin and wife, Beth; mother, Sandra Lynn Stinar and husband, Mike; sister, Joni Martin and husband, Brandon Gonyea; paternal grandmother, Emma Lou Martin; stepbrothers, Matt Hesson and wife, Dana and Brandon Hesson and wife, Ashlee; stepsister, Caitlin Campbell and husband, Dylan, and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and a niece.
Jeremy always had a smile on his face and was ready at the drop of a hat to tell a joke to anyone who would listen. If anyone needed help, they knew all they had to do was ask him and he would be there.
Do not shed a tear for Jeremy. Our tears are for those of us left behind. Jeremy would rather you celebrate the life he lived, be happy, smile a big smile, and remember all the good times you shared with him and share those memories with his family to show how much he was loved.
We LOVE you Jeremy!! Gone too soon but never forgotten!!
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Jeremy's name to BOSSIER KIDS, 2125 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA 71111 or a charity of the donor's choosing.
Come share in a celebration of Jeremy's life and share your favorite memories of him.
