Jerel Wayne Shoemaker

A graveside service for Jerel Wayne Shoemaker, Sr., 50, will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Pastor Mike Stowell. Jerel was born on August 29, 1970 in Town & Country, Missouri to John Melvin Shoemaker and Alice Faye Jones Shoemaker and passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 in Keithville, Louisiana. Jerel was a resident of Keithville and worked as a welder at Skylin Farm & Services. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He was a man loyal to his work and loved his occupation. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, John and Alice Shoemaker of Douglasville, GA; son, J.W. Shoemaker, Jr. of Keithville, LA; brothers, Jeff Shoemaker and wife, Luann, of Edenton, NC, Jason Shoemaker and wife, Wynne, of Douglasville, GA; friend, Karen Gilbert of Keithville, LA; niece, Lauren Shoemaker of Edenton, NC; nephews, J.T. and Wyatt Shoemaker of Douglasville, GA and Mark Shoemaker of Edenton, NC; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Honoring Jerel as pallbearers are Jeff Shoemaker, Jason Shoemaker, Bill Hamm, Andrew Hamm, Adam Sellers and Kyle Booker. The family would like to express special thanks to Christus Cancer Treatment Center, 1453 E. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop in Shreveport for all the excellent care and compassion given to Jerel during his illness.
