Jennie "Bea" Louella Hawk Cockrell was born November 23, 1923, in Pierce City, Missouri to Nina and Omie Hawk and passed away peacefully, Wednesday, April 1, 2020, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Bea worked at South Central Bell in Homer, Louisiana as a telephone operator. Later, she resided in Minden, Louisiana where she worked for the Webster Parish School Board and Webster Parish Library from which she retired. She was very active at Lakeview United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was also an active member of the Minden Chapter of Eastern Star. In 2014, she moved to Brookdale Senior Living in Bossier City, Louisiana. Bea had a huge heart, for she donated much of her time and energy to those in need. She never gave up on life, living it to its fullest and always made sacrifices for everyone. She loved her family, church and Eastern Star family dearly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, CD Cockrell; daughters, Beatrice and Sandra Gail Giska and husband, Raymond; brother, Jack Hawk of Shreveport, LA and sister, Violet Cardwell of Ruston, LA.
Bea is survived by her son, Donnie Cockrell and wife, Felicia, of Benton, LA; three grandchildren, Cameron Cockrell and wife, Kellie, Raymond Giska and wife, Susie and Coy Cockrell and wife Amanda; five great-grandchildren, Addison and Candlar Cockrell and Grace, Noah and Evelyn Giska; sister, Freda Plunket of Minden, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside will be held at Arlington Memorial in Homer, Louisiana with Pastor Karl Klaus of First United Methodist Church Bossier officiating the service.
