Funeral services for Jennie Mae (Elliott) Bozeman of College Station, TX, 94, formerly of Shreveport, will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel in Shreveport with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Crawford Williams will be officiating. The burial will follow in the Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport.
Jennie was the daughter of Charlie and Annie Elliott. She was born September 9, 1923 near Carthage, TX and passed away September 2, 2018 in Bryan, TX.
Jennie grew up on a farm near the rural East Texas town of De Berry along with her two brothers, John and Ralph Elliott, and four sisters, Hazel Atkinson, Lucille Shadowens, Margie Rose, and Marvel Reeves. She was married to her husband, Melvin Bozeman, for fifty-nine years, from age seventeen until he passed away in September 2000. In addition to raising her four children, she also worked as a receptionist and insurance technician at the Birdwell, Rushing, and Risinger Family Practice Clinic for twenty-seven years. Jennie was a long-time member of Ingleside Baptist Church in Shreveport where throughout the years she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and sang in the choir.
Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ralph Hambrick of Hilltop Lakes, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Donna Bozeman of Murray, KY; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Patti Bozeman of Collinsville, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Monica Bozeman of College Station, TX; twelve grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Marvel Reeves of Shreveport, LA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Karl and Joreen Bozeman of Mesquite, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the assisted living staff at Crestview Methodist Retirement Community in Bryan, TX for their friendship and compassion during the last three years. She considered them to be her second family.
