A memorial service for Jeffery Neal Nolan, 66, will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be members of the family.
Jeff was born on June 28, 1957, to Huey Fuqua Nolan and Julia Cornelia Freeland Nolan in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 in Gainesville, Georgia.
Jeff graduated from Benton High School in 1975, where he was known as Mad Dog of the basketball court. He also was a fixture in the band, playing the tuba. He later went on to attend East Texas Baptist University. He played the guitar and performed with the Living Soul Gospel Group. Along with playing the guitar, Jeff had several interests, including playing the piano, singing, bodybuilding, Jesus, Heaven, basketball, and sipping on a good cup of coffee.
Jeff moved to Georgia in 2006 to live with Roger and Whitney where he flourished in his interests and quickly gained the attention of an entirely new group of friends who loved him as much as his friends and family in Louisiana.
He truly lived his best life for 14 years at Just People, Inc. in Georgia. Jeff’s family fondly refers to the staff at Just People as the “Saints at Just People!” They provide a place for disabled adults to live independently, work, fellowship, and thrive alongside staff and their families. During his time at Just People, Jeff played his guitar often, starred in musicals, sang in Just People chorus, took art and cooking classes, experienced outings, went on a cruise and other trips, and participated in powerlifting, brisk walking, and basketball skills at Special Olympics.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Joan O’Rourke, and husband, Rick; brothers, John Nolan and wife, Maria, and Roger Nolan and wife, Whitney; nephews, Jacob Nolan and Michael Nolan.
Serving Jeff as honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Embry, Dan Perkins, Lynn Getsy, Herb Sims, and David Lee.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to Just People, Inc., 1412 Oakbrook Dr., Norcross, GA 30093.
