Jeanette Cathryn (Jan) Buseick

SHREVEPORT, LA - A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Jeanette Cathryn Rusteen Buseick "Jan", 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2018, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8895 Youree Dr., Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Stanley Larson. A reception and visitation with family will follow the service at the church. Jan was born March 13, 1934, in McCloud, CA to Clara R. Rusteen and John E. Rusteen and passed away November 5, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. Her family moved to Klamath Falls, OR when she was a young child. After graduating she left for Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, WA. She met and married Robert "Bob" Buseick on September 5, 1954. They both attended Eastern Oregon College in La Grande, OR, after Bob graduated, they moved to Lake Oswego, OR where Jan finished her Bachelor of Science Degree at Lewis and Clark, and raised four wonderful children. In 1969 they moved to Shreveport and came to Centenary College of Louisiana. Family and living each day to the best of her ability was very important to Jan. She loved her years of teaching at Southfield School. Jan was very proud of her students and their achievements. She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, playing Pinochle, and her Wednesday Mahjong friends. Christmas and everything that goes with it was always celebrated. Some of the traditions were inherited from her Norwegian parents. Jan was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir, led Sarah Circle and birthday bash. She was a member of PEO, chapter R. Preceding Jan in death were her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 64 years, Robert Reid Buseick "Bob"; children, Mary Jan Paulson and husband Michael, Stephen Buseick and wife Diane, Margaret Whittington and husband Dick, Jeffrey Buseick, Sr. and wife Jenny; grandchildren, Margaret Harris and husband Drew, Andrew Paulson, Bret Buseick and wife Mallorie, Brad Buseick and wife Megan, Kyndal Carroll and husband Dalton, Dee Whittington, Jacklyn Brown and husband Justin, Jeffrey Buseick, Jr. and wife Anna, Cory Buseick, and Lacy Buseick and fiancé Bryce Bradley; great-grandchildren, Joslyn Buzzanca, Colton Harris, Brynleigh Buseick, Brown Buseick, Livie Buseick, Bear Buseick, Remi Carroll, Lexington Buseick and Evangeline Buseick. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Paulson, Bret Buseick, Brad Buseick, Dee Whittington, Jeffrey Buseick, Jr. and Cory Buseick. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Craig Miller and the late Dr. Michael Moore.
