Jean Johnson was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who committed her life to serving God, family and others. She was kind, thoughtful and generous above all. She touched many lives through her service to God and her community.
Jean was an active member of her church, Summer Grove Baptist Church and loved serving there. Her Sunday school class, New Beginnings, meant the world to her. She was heavily involved in the Summer Grove Women's ministry and shawl ministry. She also attended several fellowship trips hosted by Summer Grove. Additionally, Jean was a lifetime member of the Shreveport Medical Alliance.
As an active member of her community, Jean left a lasting impact on everyone she met. She had the spiritual gifts of discernment and hospitality. Jean was passionate about witnessing to those she discerned needed to hear God's word and cared for people from all walks of life without judgment. No matter who she met or for how long, she had the natural ability to make you feel like part of her family. She cared deeply for others and prayed fervently for everyone who crossed her path. As a woman of strong faith, she set an example for others on what it looked like to walk with the Lord every single day. While our hearts are saddened knowing we will not see her again on this earth, we know she is rejoicing in the presence of her most precious Savior.
The legacy Jean leaves behind will be felt through many generations. She was the kind of woman that put everyone above herself and her needs. Her generosity was unmatched. She would move mountains to make sure other people's needs were met. Her relationship with the Lord was the most important thing in her life above all. She looked forward to the day where she could meet Jesus face to face. Her passing was a true testament to her life as she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Often birth is described as the most beautiful gift from God, but death is rarely described in the same way. Jean believed death was special for those who knew the Lord. Her passing was indeed beautiful, and we can take comfort in her last breath as we witnessed her soul leave this earth and her eyes fixate on our King.
