November 11, 1962 — August 20, 2025

Jayne Evalani (Blackstad) Spangler, 62, of Bossier City, LA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

The daughter of Robert (Bob) Nawai Blackstad and Ruth Hannah (Jones) Blackstad was born in Wichita, KS, on November 11, 1962. Jayne attended elementary school in Wichita before moving to Kirksville in 1973. She graduated from Kirksville High School in 1981. Following high school, Jayne attended Truman State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1985. Jayne married Michael Spangler in Kirksville, MO.

In 1987, Jayne and Mike moved to Wichita, KS. She taught kindergarten for a year before starting with The Boeing Company in 1988 as an IE Methods Analyst. In 2003, Jayne moved to Jacksonville, FL, to work as a Program Readiness Lead. Another promotion with Boeing took her to San Antonio, TX, in 2007 as an operations Manager. She then moved to Seattle, WA, in 2007 to work in various Management positions for Boeing. While working, she earned an MSM in Management in 2008 from Colorado Technical University and a Master's in HR Management, Organization Leadership, and Applied Project Management from Villanova University Online in 2017. She received a 30-year award for service for her time with Boeing while in Seattle and retired from Boeing in 2018.

After retirement, Jayne worked for GP Strategies as a Training Instructor, the COO of Strategic Global Aviation, and, most recently, as a Project Manager for GP Strategies. Jayne married Shawn Johnson in 2011. They moved to Shawn’s hometown of Shreveport, LA, in 2021, where Jayne’s love of Mardi Gras grew even more.

Jayne was an avid Chiefs and Royals Fan and greatly enjoyed cheering them on. She loved musicals, especially Phantom of the Opera and Wicked, in which she believed she was Glinda the Good Witch. She loved all types of puzzles, Harry Potter, and Hallmark movies. Jayne also loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, and took several hospitality management courses. She took immense pride in her Hawaiian heritage and her ohana. Jayne (Auntie) treated her nieces and nephews like her own kids, including taking them to sporting events and being a Girl Scout leader. Her greatest joy was being Kuku to Liam, and she loved every minute she spent with him.

Jayne is survived by her husband, Shawn Johnson; her father-in-law, Randy Johnson; her bonus daughter, Taylor (Johnson) Gile and husband, Dale of Austin, TX, and her grandson, Liam Camp; siblings, Robert W. Blackstad and wife, Pat of Bellingham, WA; Nancy Leilani (Blackstad) Jabara and husband, Jeff of Wichita, KS; Richard B.
