Jarvis Lane Harmon

A visitation honoring Lane Harmon, 88, will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana.

A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Heights Baptist Church, 3820 Old Mooringsport Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana.

Lane was born May 20, 1938 to Clyde and Nevis Byrd Harmon and went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

He was a proud graduate of Athens High School. After high school Lane dedicated his entire career to serving his community through his work with Cities Service/Citgo Pipeline. His commitment to his work reflected the same dedication and dependability he brought to every aspect of his life.

Lane met the love of his life, Elizabeth Maddry, in 1956 through mutual friends. Their connection quickly blossomed into a lifelong love, and they were married on October 5, 1957. Together, Lane and Elizabeth built a beautiful life rooted in Christ, love, devotion and family. Their marriage was a lasting testament to the love and commitment they shared mirroring the love Christ has for His church.

Lane was a faithful member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Throughout his many years there, he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher, faithfully giving his time and talents to the church.

He was a thoughtful and devoted grandfather who cherished every opportunity to be involved in his grandchildren’s lives. He could be found in the audience at countless dance recitals, sporting events and academic activities, always proudly cheering them on. He created special memories with his grandson through fishing and lovingly maintained go-karts that had been passed down from his children to his grandchildren. He kept his granddaughters’ vehicles running smoothly and sent them off to college with personalized toolboxes, making sure they were prepared for whatever life might bring. And, of course, he always found plenty of opportunities to slip each of them a little “pocket money” – one of the many ways he showed his love and made each grandchild feel special.

He was also a loyal friend who deeply valued his friendships and was known for his servant’s heart – always willing to love, support and show up for the people he cared about.

Lane was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his faithful wife, Elizabeth, of 68 years and 10 months; son, Mark Harmon and wife, Judi; daughter, Sherri Harmon; grandchildren, Amy Roppolo and husband, Bryan; Emily Holloway and husband, John; Logan Harmon and wife, Jacey; great-grandchildren, Emma Roppolo, Ava Roppolo and Mark Holloway.

Honoring Lane as pallbearers are Logan Harmon, Bryan Roppolo, John Holloway, Roger Johnson, Chip Johnson and Wade Rasberry. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Flash, Norman Graham and Johnny Whittington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church.
