Janis Franklin

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Janis Franklin, 91, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 US-80, Haughton, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Janis’s longtime friend, Pastor Tommy Patton.

Janis was born on August 20, 1931, in Minden, Louisiana. She passed away on March 21, 2023, in Monroe, Louisiana, where she had recently moved to reside at The Gardens of Georgia Tucker.

Janis is preceded in death by her husband, TL Franklin; son, Don Hemperley; brother, Billy Blakewood; and sister, Gloria Frantom. She leaves behind to cherish her memory is her sister, Rena McKinney; special friend, Paul Little; stepchildren, Tom and Karen Franklin and Greg and Becky Brown; three nieces, Penny Moore, Marcy Frantom, and Gay Frantom; two nephews, Glen McKinney, and Drew McKinney; in addition to family Janis was blessed with two very special neighbors, Mona Venetis and Judy Boogaerts. 

Serving as pallbearers will be members of Cypress Baptist Church.
