Janice Shirah was born July 2, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away on August 27, 2022. Daughter of Alta and Horace Beezley and granddaughter of Ernest and Lola Scoggin, Janice was raised in Greenville and Winnsboro, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana.
She attended college at Abilene Christian University and grew up to be a woman of varied extraordinary talents, which she shared with great enthusiasm. One example of her accomplishments is the collection of beautiful, moving poems she wrote throughout her adulthood. They were published in a book in 2010 titled Our Merciful Father: Living Your Faith in God’s Grace.
Her greatest earthly passion was serving others. Not only was her life dedicated to creating a wonderful home for her children and husband, she often reached out to others in need to offer a helping hand. Many can attest to her diligent efforts to offer support in various ways, when she crossed paths with people who found themselves in challenging times. Even her successful business, Janice Shirah Real Estate, was viewed by her as a ministry of sorts. She was always ready to share and eager to bring comfort to the lives of others.
Her life was characterized by a strong faith, her sweet and spicy personality, and an enormous spirit of generosity. She will be greatly missed.
