A memorial service for Janice “Cookie” Kay Edwards Conner, 84, will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Adam Miller.
Cookie was born on September 29, 1941, to Alvin Buford Edwards and Bonnie Ruth Tuck in Morgantown, West Virginia, and passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Janice “Cookie” Conner was a proud graduate of Bossier High School and built a long, dedicated career serving her community. Over the years, she worked as Secretary for Joe Tauzen Insurance Company, and later with the Mayor of Benton under George Forrest, and then with attorneys Al Wyche and Michael Nerren. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Samuel Robert Conner, and together they shared fifty-six years of devotion, partnership, and family. Cookie faced life’s challenges with remarkable courage, overcoming breast cancer and even serving as a bone marrow donor to her son, a true testament to her strength and the depth of her love.
She enjoyed crafting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends, but nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Cookie was loving, supportive, and thoughtful, the kind of woman whose presence made others feel cared for and understood. Her life was marked by deep devotion and a generous heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Cookie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Bonnie Edwards; her beloved husband, Samuel Robert Conner; and her sister, Mary Ann Cleveland. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dwayne Robert Conner, and his family, Dr. Nora Nabil Hanna, Dakota Robert Conner, and Caitlyn Julia Conner; her daughter, Danielle Kay Freeman, and her family, Lieutenant Troy Kevin Freeman, Senior Airman Ethan Kyle Freeman, and Baylie Suzanne Freeman.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dakota Robert Conner, Caitlyn Julia Conner, Senior Airman Ethan Kyle Freeman, and Baylie Suzanne Freeman.
Service will be held at a future date
