Janette Gathright Johnson

Funeral services honoring the life of Janette Gathright Johnson, 82, will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk St., Mansfield, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Mansfield, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Revered Bob Latham. Janette was born on February 26, 1939 to Beamon and Hazel Gathright, the fourth of five daughters, in Strong, Arkansas and entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 20, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Janette was a resident of Shreveport and was a dedicated housewife and mother. After completing high school in Arkansas, Janette moved to Franklin, Louisiana where she met and married James Cecil Johnson, the love of her life. Briefly, the couple lived in Ruston, before making their home in Mansfield for more than 55 years. For a time, Janette worked in the grocery meat market of the Mansfield Piggly Wiggly that James managed, helped run the Clear Lake Apartments and cleaned carpets and businesses alongside James at J & J Carpet Cleaning. Janette was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church, before the couple moved to Shreveport. Janette was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Tammy Pyles and her sisters, Jean, Francis, and Sue. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Cecil Johnson; her daughter, Linda Adams and husband, Robert; her grandchildren, Erin Pyles Smith and husband, Robbie, Patrick Adams and wife, Jordan and Olivia Pyles Harrell; her great-grandchildren, Tristyn, Jordyn, Gavyn, Justin, Ryland and Cooper; her sister Joe Stein and husband, Buck along with a host of nieces and nephews. Honoring Janette as pallbearers will be Curtis Prudhomme, Gary Calhoun, Bubba Huey, David Williams, Bradley Adams, Michael Adams, and Jeff Heard.
