Janet Montez Davidson, 97, was born in Colfax, LA, on December 12, 1924, to James and Cora Thames, and went to be with her heavenly father on November 11, 2022, in Shreveport, LA. She was a lifelong bible scholar and Sunday school teacher. She not only knew the word, but also taught the word, and more importantly, she lived the word.

Montez will always be remembered by her sparkling blue eyes, infectious smile, delicious recipes, and unconditional love for everyone she met. As a fearless prayer warrior, she was always prepared to intercede in prayer with strength, wisdom, and love.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, R.N. Davidson; her sons, Randy and Robby Davidson; her brothers, Alton, Baxley, Kenny and Buddy Thames; and sisters, Maxine Aaron and Sissy Cash.

Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Derryle Barrow (Harold), and son, Dr. Ricky Davidson (Annette); sister-in-law, Jo Thames; grandchildren, Briana Barrow McCollough (Tommy), Mesha Barrow, Laura Davidson Gordey (Justin), Brett Davidson, Robert Davidson (Cori), Matthew Davidson (Rachel), Christopher Davidson (Anna); 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Celebration of life will be at Open Range Fellowship located at 9950 Hwy 80, Greenwood, La. Visitation with family will begin at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 16, with service to follow at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Dennis Aaron and Brother Mel Campbell. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery West immediately following the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert Davidson, Matthew Davidson, Christopher Davidson, Brett Davidson, and great-grandsons, Jeffrey McCollough, and Bradley McCollough. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Benjamin Davidson, Grayson McCollough, Elam Davidson, Rogan Davidson, James Willis, and Ruston Gordey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Open Range Fellowship or charity of your choice.
