James William (Jim) Slater

SHREVEPORT, LA - A Reception honoring the life of James William "Jim" Slater, 81, will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018, in the Parlor of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71105. A private family Graveside Service was held at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, LA, officiated by The Rev. Paul D. Martin. Jim was born May 7, 1937, in Vicksburg, MS to Inez Thrash Slater and to John Birchett Slater and passed away September 29, 2018, in Shreveport, LA. He was a deeply spiritual person and was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Jim was a longtime and well respected Real Estate Agent, Developer and Broker on a local, state and national level. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Slater, daughter, Susan Thomas, nephew, Robert Benjamin Slater, and his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his son, James W. "Jay" Slater, Jr. and wife Renée; brothers, John B. Slater and wife Jane, Jerry Lee Slater and wife Linda, and Jack Robert Slater; grandsons, Michael Jarmon Slater and James W. "Jake" Slater, III and wife Aubrie. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
