James Alan Shannon, Sr.

Funeral services for James "Jim" Alan Shannon, Sr., 79, will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Officiating the service will be Otis Moore.

Jim was born October 28, 1946 to Floyd and Una Shannon in Monroe, Louisiana and passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in Shreveport.

Jim devoted his life to hard work, service, and the people he loved. A proud Marine who served his country in Vietnam, he carried that same sense of duty and resilience into his long career as a contractor. At home, he found his greatest joy in the company of his family, cherishing every moment spent together. He also took immense pride in caring for his yard, tending it with the same dedication and attention to detail that defined so much of his life. Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his craftsmanship, and the quiet satisfaction he found in a job well done.

Jim is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 29 years, Jackie R. Shannon; son, Jimmy Shannon and wife, Ashley; daughter, Angie Shannon Cason and husband, John; stepson, Kevin Alderman and wife, Nichol; stepdaughter, Vicki Cabra and husband, Richard; brother, Johnny Shannon and wife, Elizabeth; sisters, Joyce Bridges, and Julia Kelly and husband, Dan; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim will be greatly missed, but we have peace knowing he is in heaven, and we will see him again someday.
