James Ray Pruitt

Funeral services for James Ray Pruitt, 94, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 24, 2018 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Shreveport, LA. James was born in Zwolle, LA on September 4, 1923 and passed away July 20, 2018. James was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and former member of Ingleside Baptist Church. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent for numerous years. He also was the past President of the Caddo Parish School Board. He retired as an accountant where he owned his own business. James was an avid golfer who cherished all his memories with his "golf buddies". James is preceded in death by his parents, James Critt Pruett and Florence Floyd Pruett; wife, Hazel Marie Williams Pruitt and Elizabeth Ferguson Pruitt; son, Keith Ray Pruitt and brother, Chester Pruitt. He is survived by his daughter, Betty Marie Pruitt Roberson and Ernie of Shreveport; daughter-in-law, Mary Broughton Pruitt of Mangham; sister-in-law, Joetta Belew; grandchildren, Christopher Ray Pruitt and DeWanna, Alison Pruitt Jones and Brian, Clayton Talbert Pruitt and Katherine and Colvin Pruitt Roberson; 9 great grandchildren, Abby Shelbie, Madalyn, Cooper, Elle, Sawyer, Thomas, Laney, Olivia and long-time caregiver, Vera Stinson as well as many friends. Pallbearers will be Chris Pruitt, Clay Pruitt, Brian Jones, Dr. Bo Worley, Brother Shackleford and Lonnie Gilley. The family would also like to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness during this time. All of your acts of kindness will be remembered forever and cherished by the family.
