James Marshal Moorehead

James Marshal Moorehead, age 88 of Minden, Louisiana, passed away on May 10, 2026. Born on May 5, 1938, in Gibsland, Louisiana, he was the son of Douglas and Marie Acklen Moorehead. James spent most of his childhood in Minden and was one of a select few invited to participate in Pelican Boys State before graduating with high honors from Minden High School in 1956.

In February 1961, James married Linda Carleen Holt, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University that same year with a degree in Civil Engineering and later earned an MBA from Tulane University in 1972. Throughout his career, he was an active member of the National Association of Civil Engineers and the International Association of Drilling Contractors, contributing significantly to the fields of engineering and offshore drilling until his retirement from Oceaneering in 2012.

Following his retirement, James and Linda returned to Minden, their beloved hometown, where they cherished the tranquility of his “woods” and their loyal Yorkies, Taz and Missy.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife Linda, and his brother Bobby Ray along with yorkies Tuppy, Tufty, Taz, Missy and maltese Chiri. He is survived by his son, Michael Moorehead of Texas; his daughter Tara Seabra of Florida; his grandchildren Trystan, Justin, Jeffrey, and Peter; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of support received during this difficult time.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 29, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana with funeral services at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. Interment will follow at Minden Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana.

James will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, dedication to his profession and duty to family, and his deep appreciation for experiencing the land and cultures of the world. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
