James Lamar McElroy, Jr.

James Lamar McElroy, Jr., 81, died Monday, August 27, 2018 in Shreveport, LA. He was born June 25, 1937 in Calhoun, LA to James Lamar, Sr. and Ruby Francis Reynolds McElroy. He married Lynda Kay Jones at Kildare Baptist Church, Kildare, TX on June 5, 1964. Following his service in the U.S. Marine Corps, he went on to obtain a Master's Plus 30 Degree in mathematics and started as a math teacher for the Caddo Parish School Board. He retired after 37 years from the Data Processing Section of the school board. James was a member of Rose Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by both parents and is survived by his wife; son, Sean Christopher McElroy; daughter-in-law, Robyn Lowery McElroy; several second cousins; and our favorite Aunt Nellie Hendrick Brown. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Dr. B.J. "Rocky" Maddox officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Kildare Cemetery, Kildare, TX.
